Energy Performance Certificates became a requirement for homes on sale or leased / rented as part of the EU EPBD directive in December 2008.
The Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) is provided after the domestic energy assessor (D.E.A) completes the task of surveying the property. This establishes information such as property construction dates, glazing and heating system age and is used in a series of calculations to provide the rating of the building- essential as part of the home report.
